Miscellaneous
  • Manassas Students Win Honorable Mention in Toshiba ExploraVision Science Competition: http://manassas.patch.com/announcements/manassas-students-win-honorable-mention-in-toshiba-exploravision-science-competition?ncid=newsltuspatc00000001 Suyash Bhattarai, Matthew Donaldson, and Steven VanZandt, from Mrs. Hypes' class- Project title- "Future Computers". Virginia Bixby and Rabia Masood from Mrs. Boyer's class, Project titled "The Micro Epi DeFense. Each team had to select a current technology and predict what that technology might be like 20 years from now. The teams wrote a research paper and created a website on the technology.. These students were selected from a total of 5,206 entries across the US and Canada, representing 15,963 student participants in this year's program. Just 10% of applicants receive Honorable Mention.
  • Osbourn Graduate Wins Global Business Award: Manassas native and 1993 Osbourn High School graduate Kara Vanderpool Ward has been named as the United States Recipient of The Hot Mommas Project through the George Washington University School of Business. The project honors women from across the world whose stories can serve as teachable case studies to women in business. Vanderpool Ward was nominated last fall, and her case study made it to the finals where it was read and judged by a panel of globally recognized leaders in business, government, media, academia and nonprofit sectors.

Track
Results from District Meet:
  • Girls finished 5th with a score of 28
  • Dominique Newman finished 5th in the 100 meter dash with a time of 12.75 and 3rd in the 200 meter dash with a time of 26.23 qualifying for Regionals in both.
  • Emma Nowak finished 1st in the 166 meter run with a time of 5:08.78 and 2nd in the 3200 meter run with a time of 11:46.74 qualifying for Regionals in both.
  • Mateilla Yallah finished 5th in the long jump with a distance of 15-03, qualifying for Regionals

Softball
  • Osbourn 9 - Patriot 0: In the Cedar Run District Tournament semifinals, pitcher Lindsay Corbin threw a one-hit shutout, allowed no walks and struck out seven. Brittany Coffey was 4 for 4 with two singles, a double, a triple and one run scored,Corbin was 1 for 3 with a triple, a walk and one run scored andZoie Patrick had a single and a double and two runs scored. The Eagles (16-5) host Broad Run Friday, May 17th at 6 pm for the tournament title.
